one hundred and four…and still going strong!

This project was one of my all time favorites… Randy brought me her grandmother’s wedding dress to re-purpose for her daughter’s wedding. The dress was 104 years old and the details threaded throughout were beyond amazing. I hung the dress in my sewing studio for months before I could muster up enough courage to cut it!

We took all the beautiful details, lace, buttons and embroidery and reworked the wedding gown into a chuppah cover — which covered the bride and groom as they said their vows. The chuppah now doubles as a decorative table cloth in the family’s home.

I then made two ditty bags for Randy and her daughter — as a memento of the wedding day: past + present.

How about that for something old?
